Walker Shave
Instructor of Latin, Great Books, and Catholic Intellectual Tradition
Walker Shave studied Classical Studies and English Literature at Hillsdale College, graduating with high honors in 2013 from one of the nation’s leading institutions for classical education.
At Hillsdale he pursued the traditional liberal arts in depth, studying Latin, Greek, and English literature alongside history, philosophy, and the pedagogy of classical education. His studies centered on the great works that shaped Western civilization and the intellectual traditions that continue to form thoughtful readers and leaders today.
Walker later taught Latin and English at Coventry Christian Schools, a classical interdenominational school in Pennsylvania, where he guided students through the disciplined study of language, literature, and the Great Books tradition. In the classroom he emphasizes careful reading, thoughtful discussion, and the habits of intellectual seriousness that prepare students for rigorous university study.
He also served as Director of Religious Education at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Seattle, where he worked with students and families to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith.
A convert to the Catholic faith, Walker has read extensively in the writings of the early Christians and the Church Fathers, whose works remain a particular intellectual passion. He believes classical education prepares students not only for academic excellence, but for lives grounded in truth, virtue, and faith.
Walker lives with his wife Molly and their two children. Outside the classroom he enjoys playing the ukulele and traveling the world.
